At its heart, Battle of the Bands is a service event dedicated to empowering our service partners. During this global pandemic, the lives of countless individuals have become more difficult and they need our support now more than ever. We hope you contribute to our cause, and join us in making a larger and more meaningful impact on our Filipino Community.
Service partners
OPERATION SMILE
For more than three decades, we have been providing free reconstructive facial surgery to indigent Filipino children and young adults born with cleft lip and cleft palate deformity. As one of the largest medical volunteer-based nonprofits, Operation Smile has mobilized thousands of medical volunteers from a wide range of medical specialties from more than 80 countries. Operation Smile engages public-private partnerships to advance health care delivery, train local medical professionals to provide surgical care for patients in their communities, donate crucial medical equipment and supplies, and increase access to surgical care so that everyone living with cleft is treated.
CHILDHOPE PHILIPPINES
As an NGO for children in the Philippines, ChildHope believes that street children have the right to live and be protected from any form of abuse. They should be given opportunities to express themselves and maximize their potentials to help themselves and others. ChildHope envisions a Philippines where urban poor children can gain access to the fulfillment of their rights especially children in street situations. For them to develop and become accepted responsible members of society, they should be upheld and protected. Childhope Philippines works toward the protection and fulfillment of children’s rights. Through integrated direct service programs in education, health, and social services, Childhope aims for the holistic growth of Filipino street children in Metro Manila.
binhi literacy
foundation
In partnership with Battle of the Bands, Binhi aims to provide quality education to less privileged students in Baseco, Manila through an English Literacy Program. In 2020, the 25 Binhi Scholars were able to improve their average literacy and comprehension scores from 36% to 80%! We hope their new skills and love for reading instill a passion for learning that will aspire them to do better in school, and subsequently improve their economic situation.
ONE MILLION LIGHTS PH
One Million Lights Philippines is a nationally-awarded, youth-led, non-profit organization that aims to improve the livelihoods of children and adults from rural communities by providing clean, safe, and affordable solar lighting. Their goal is to distribute one million solar lights to replace hazardous and costly kerosene lamps; to this end, we have lit up more than ten thousand households in 33 of the 81 provinces in the Philippines, empowering more than seventy thousand Filipinos. These solar lamps enable children to study at night and adults to extend their workday, improving household health while increasing income savings.
PROMOTING RURAL EDUCATION IN THE PHILIPPINES (PREP)
Promoting Rural Education in the Philippines (PREP) is a student-led organization that fosters a love of learning within children in Tagaytay elementary schools through innovative lesson plans and tight bonds with the students. In past years, funds donated to PREP have been allocated towards improving the school's facilities like chairs, tables, and library.
SAVE THE CHILDREN
Save the Children believes every child deserves a future. In the Philippines and around the world, we work every day to give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. When crisis strikes, and children are most vulnerable, we are always among the first to respond and the last to leave. We ensure children’s unique needs are met and their voices are heard. We deliver lasting results for millions of children, including those hardest to reach.
FOR THE FUTURE
For the Future is a Filipino organization that believes there is power in the youth to create change, there is power in our stories to inspire action, and there is hope when we act today. They provide easily accessible avenues to be part of the solutions we need for a protected and empowered Philippines, from reforestation of the Yangil Tribe’s land in Zambales, purchasing solar lights and water filters for far flung communities, enabling food security through community pantries and much more.
